Egypt's Corruption Trials Televised

Egypt is once again paving the revolutionary roads as they set a precedent by protesting against “opaque” post-revolution trials. In an attempt to achieve transparency, Egyptian state television has suspended regular programming and commenced televising a live feed of the trials of former regime members who served under President Hosni Mubarak.
Prior to recent protests in the capital’s Tahrir Square, where rallies also took place in early February, trial procedures have been circumspect with backdoor procedures taking place and very few members of the community granted access.
Former President Hosni Mubarak’s case will begin on August 3rd and if the opposition continues to push for transparency Mubarak’s case could be the most widely televised court case yet. That is of course following O.J.
Rupert Murdoch may have also previously benefited from taking a few pointers from Egyptian state television…..woops too late for that.
More “opaque” –ness
