“with mo’ ass than Deelishis, that’s my Flavor of Love/we make it rain like Reignman when he played with the Glove”

in the interest of willing an NBA season and drawing the very real comparison between rap groups and team sports, the Hip-Hop Reading Rainbow’s final look at Flavor Flav’s The Icon The Memoir is dedicated to the drama within Public Enemy. it’s truly sad when a house crumbles upon itself, and too bad that it happens all too often. just ask The Revolution.

“I became one of the most sampled voices in the history of music. Nobody’s voice has ever been sampled more than Flavor Flav’s, to this day. James Brown used to be the most sampled voice until I came along with ‘Yeah Boy’ and ‘Rock that shit, homey.’ That took James Brown’s record and stripped it nekkid!” (22)

“If anything, they should have been trying to take care of me and trying to get me some help because, by the early 1990s, my drug use was out of control, but they didn’t do shit. Not even when I fell off a motorcycle while we were touring in Italy and broke both my arms. Would those motherfuckas lift a finger to help me carry a bag?

Hell, no.” (57)

“Griff does martial arts and shit, and me, Flav, I’m a buck fifty soaking wet. A couple of the guys picked me up off the floor and somehow I got to my car and drove off. I had so much animosity and hate built up for this guy because of what he did to me. Most of all, he destroyed my feelings.” (60)

he never apologized, just like how Rodman never apologized to Pippen when they won the championship together, even though he promised to do it, crying on Oprah’s couch.
